SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreveport-based author/illustrator Kirk Reedstrom’s Duck & Moose early reader graphic novel series will publish on March 5 from Disney-Hyperion. Sold in a three book deal, the graphic novel series follows a quiet-loving Moose whose life gets turned upside down when a free-wheeling Duck moves in on top of his head. The books, meant for 6-9 year olds, are filled with zany hijinks and slapstick humor that showcases unlikely friendships and the power of compromise. The first two books in the series, Duck Moves In! and Moose Blasts Off!, have garnered early praise, including starred reviews from School Library Journal which calls the books “a must-have series that is among the best that graphic novels have to offer.”

To celebrate the release of the books, Reedstrom is partnering with Centenary College of Louisiana’s Meadows Museum to host Sketch//Comic: The Making of Duck & Moose, a student-curated exhibit of behind-the-scenes art from the graphic novels. The exhibit will run from April 1-May 3 with a book signing and artist talk on April 4th at 6:30PM. In addition to the exhibit, Reedstrom will attend the Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival on May 4th.
