SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A patient of Shriners Children’s in Shreveport who had his leg amputated when he was 14 is now playing on his high school football team.

The young man, whose name is Dallas, was born with a clubfoot and could not run full speed until he was presented with a running prosthetic.

Dr. Kenneth Powell at Shriners Children’s in Shreveport helped Dallas work through the decision to have his leg amputated. Dallas said he knew he had made the right decision the first time he put on his new running prosthetic and sprinted as fast as he could. Dallas immediately vowed to never stop running.

And when the family sent Dr. Powell a video of Dallas running for the first time, Dr. Powell was thrilled.
