Quick-thinking 10-year-old honored for rescuing family during fire emergency

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport Firefighters recognized the bravery and life-saving efforts of a local 10-year-old this week.

On Tuesday, at the Caddo Parish Public Schools Board Meeting, Chief Clarence Reese presented Keron Johnson with a certificate of commendation honoring his heroic actions on January 24, 2025.

According to the Shreveport Fire Department, a fire broke out in Keron’s family home on Elbert Circle just before 6:00 a.m. that day. He alerted his family of what was happening, and all six members escaped unharmed.
