In 2022, Michael Salter put 50 cents into a machine at Dave & Buster’s in Dallas and pulled out a trading card that turned out to be worth $5,500. This was not the first time Salter had bought, found or traded a card worth thousands of dollars. In fact, it was just a day in the life of this Shreveport man who has the largest collection of graded Marvel trading cards in the world.

Salter flies under the radar locally with his collection and his vast reservoir of mostly self-taught knowledge. He is a successful residential Realtor, one of the Top 0.05% agents in the U.S., a designation he modestly says sounds more impressive than it is. He loves real estate, and followed his dad, also named Michael Salter, into the business, but it was his Uncle Ernest Demopulos who changed the trajectory of his life. When Salter was 5 or 6, his uncle began buying him sports trading cards. It became a hobby that turned into a passion as Salter learned more.
