The chair and vice-chair of the Shreveport City Council will, for the first time, be held by two women.

Councilwomen Tabatha Taylor and Ursula Bowman were elected as chair and vice-chair of the Shreveport City Council at Tuesday’s meeting, replacing Councilmen Alan Jackson and James Green, respectively.

Green nominated Taylor and Bowman for their respective roles, stating that the two women are going to elevate the council to new heights and he has confidence in their leadership.

Taylor emphasized the expansions of Amazon and G-Unit Studios, as well as manufacturing and infrastructure improvements, are crucial to her and Bowman, and the entire council is committed to serving constituents, as they have consistently done.

“You will still call us, and we will still show up,” Taylor said.
