Robinson Film Center will present the third installment of the popular StoryTellHERS program on April 25th at 7pm. The event, which showcases films by local female filmmakers, is presented under RFC’s Regional Filmmakers Spotlight series.
This year’s lineup, which was curated by local filmmaker Kristi J. Woodard, includes Spooky Crew by Erin Bennett, Off Sides by Kaitlyn Brown, Daffodils in December by Emma Francis, How Do I Tell You This by Lara Hill, Pink Suit Black Suit by Jaya McSharma, and CANS Can’t Stand by Megan Plotka. The 83-minute slate will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A with the filmmakers. “The past two years, this series has not only become a space to showcase these female filmmakers and their stories,” said Woodard. “It has become a safe haven where it’s not about competition, it’s about supporting women and their visual art, and I have come away more inspired each year.”
“We hear the phrase “representation matters” a lot these days, but it’s true. I know when I’m in a room full of other female filmmakers, it fills me with confidence and a desire to create more,” said Rachael Hansil, Education Director at RFC and film producer. “At RFC, we love giving local filmmakers an avenue to screen their work, but the panel discussions are what really make us special and set us apart from other theaters. The StorytellHers event is always packed full of community members ready to engage. That’s when the magic happens.”
