Mardi Gras boosts Shreveport-Bossier economy, thousands visit

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The streets are no longer covered in candy wrappers, broken beads, and plastic cups.

Mardi Gras season has left the building but Visit Shreveport-Bossier says it was a success for economic impact.

Stacy Brown, president of Visit Shreveport-Bossier says according to an economic study back in 2023, Mardi Gras raises more than 10 million dollars in direct spending at hotels, restaurants, and local attractions.

“When you roll that over in the economy and you look at the added value of all the media attention we’ve received, not only locally, but nationally, as well as internationally, it’s over a 20-million-dollar economic impact in our community,” said Brown.

Brown says Shreveport-Bossier has really embraced Mardi Gras culture and shown it to the world through a variety of events.
