SHREVEPORT, La (KTAL/KMSS) – LSU Health Shreveport is seeing rapid growth and this month the renderings for their new research facility at Mall Saint Vincent are expected to be finalized.
Thursday marked two years since Dr. David Guzick began overseeing the medical school and health science center as Chancellor. He says he’s excited for what’s to come.
“There are definite steps, but the vision is very grand,” said Dr. Guzick as he described what he envisions LSU Health Shreveport will become, including making the facility an academic health center.
“Scientists are hired. Their staff are hired. Their families move here from somewhere else. And that of course has a ripple effect in the economy,” said Guzick. “Everyone is renting a home or getting a mortgage to buy a home. Going to the supermarket. Going to the movies. Going to restaurants and so on.”
He feels the med school and hospital are ripe for expansion because there is not another academic health center within a 200 mile radius of Shreveport.
