SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Hispanic community in Northwest Louisiana has grown exponentially, with several churches offering Hispanic services and many Hispanic or Latino-owned entrepreneurs.
Briant Garcia co-founded the Hispanic Heritage Association of Northwest Louisiana says his mission is to build bridges between the community.
“Shreveport, Louisiana and its regions are now working on its second generation Latinos. That means we have a Hispanic population here. Of us born bicultural, bilingual Latinos. It’s now worth going into the work market,
“That’s amazing because people are starting to realize really what the Latino community is in the area. And of course, many organizations are not only noticing that but reaching back to us for help, ” said the Hispanic Heritage Association co-founder, Briant Garcia.
The HHA is dedicated to teaching people about the Hispanic community and hosting events to help support locals. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, the HHA of NWLA will host many events and partner with local organizations to showcase Latino culture.
The Shreve Memorial Library says it is also working hard to accommodate the wants and needs of its growing Hispanic visitors, offering bilingual services and more.
