Immerse Yourself in a Sensory Experience with The Shreveport Garden Study Club
by: Christina Schaefer
We adapt our lifestyles as we move from winter to spring, and so does nature. The spring equinox gently awakens the sleeping life force and signals the time for newness and resurgence across various species. Bears emerge to see the light of day, bees fly from their winter nests to pollinate our flora, temperatures rise in bodies of water, and birds travel in groups in search of better resources. Just as our human lives look different from year to year, so do theirs. As hard as we work to better our quality of life, we can look around us and extend that same kindness to all the different forces of nature trying their best to adapt alongside us.
“Fly and Flourish” by The Shreveport Garden Study Club is an event celebrating nature’s resilience, with an emphasis on educating attendees on conservation and horticulture. The Shreveport Garden Study Club unites passionate individuals with an interest not only in growing plants but especially the science behind the process (horticulture).
Get an inside look into the vital role that wetlands play in the migration of birds, along with how to be productive towards preserving these precious lands for future generations… not only for us, but for all walks of life.
Additionally, there will be a Flower Show showcasing hundreds of entries from a handful of different states, judged by Garden Club of America. True to theme, attendees can also choose to participate in Floral Design Classes with themes such as “Birds of a Feather”, “A Little Bird Told Me” and more!

Leave with a souvenir from one of the merchant booths at the “Fly by Boutique”, which will be set up 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 1 and 2 in the Hilton Hotel Lobby, 104 Market St.
