Girl Scout aims to boost Gold Award recognition in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – As she prepares to graduate with Captain Shreve’s Class of 2026, Carrington Hill is also on a mission to increase recognition for girls who have worked their way through the ranks of the Girl Scouts.

Hill has been in scouting since Kindergarten. She’s been a Daisy, a Brownie, a Junior, and now she’s a full-fledged cadet, attempting to accomplish her final mission in scouting, which is to achieve Gold Award status. If you’ve never heard of the Gold Award, you’re not alone.

“I went to a college fair and set up a table, and I talked to the girls about it and just like I said, they didn’t even know about it. Some of the girls that were at the table were Girl Scouts, and they got out of Girl Scouts. And so once I talked to them, they signed back up,” Hill said.
