SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The nonprofit organization Shreveport Green is launching the city’s first nature campus.
The new initiative seeks to connect students and local neighborhoods with nature. The first-ever Nature Campus will be established at J.S. Clark Elementary School, but volunteers are needed to help plant 175 native and fruit trees, transforming the school into an environmental learning space.
The new Nature Campus initiative aims to reduce flooding, improve stormwater drainage, increase access to fresh food through fruit-bearing trees, and protect the environment with native species that support local ecosystems.
