SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A 15-year-old boy from Madrid, Spain, is living the American dream with a very well-known family in Shreveport.
Markel Barral is experiencing Southern hospitality with the Bordelon family, who are hosting him as a foreign exchange student for the 2024-25 school year.
“It all started when I wanted to come here and live the American dream and see because it’s very different. Everything is very different,” Barral said. “So I just asked my Dad if I could come and we started figuring it out and here I am.”
Since being in the United States, Barral has enjoyed Chick-fil-A and Crumbl Cookies.
“So in Spain, there’s like a lot of people that want to try Crumbl Cookies, that want to try Chick-fil-A. So I just came here and tried them and they are very good. Crumbl Cookies especially very good.”
He aspires to become a Delta Airlines pilot and promises free first-class tickets to the Bordelons in the future.
