Katie here—Starra and I are teaming up to host a fundraiser for a very special cause, and we’d love your help making it a success.
Starra’s little brother was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a progressive and heartbreaking disease with no cure. He’s been through more than most people could imagine—last summer, he lost the use of his legs and had a terrifying brush with heart failure. Right now, his heart is fragile, and doctors say there may only be a year or two left. It’s hard to even type those words, but that’s the reality this family is facing.
Our goal is to raise money to help Starra visit her brother and make some beautiful memories while there’s still time. Funds will also go toward an electrical lift and anything else the family may need during this incredibly difficult time.
The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 28th from 12–9 PM at The Seventh Tap in Shreveport. We’ll have amazing local vendors, raffles, music, and more—and we’re still looking for vendors to join us (no vendor fee, just a raffle donation). If you’re not able to be there in person but want to help, donations and raffle items are both welcome and so appreciated.
This family deserves all the love and support we can give. Please help us lift them up and show them they’re not alone.
