Just in time for the most frighteningly wonderful time of the year THE Sarah Adams is hosting a hauntingly beautiful showcase at our shop on Oct. 16th from 4 – 7pm.
If you’ve been by recently you might’ve noticed her work hanging in our store but this is your chance to meet the artist and dive deeper into what inspires her work and even purchase a piece for yourself.
About Sarah’s works:
Each of my pieces, ranging from ultra-realism portraits to large or life-size 3D sculptures, follow a shared narrative that examines the complicated relationship of womanhood, the horror genre, and religion within both our past and contemporary culture, with a hyper-fixation on the definition of the “true” female experience.
My current work acts as commentary on the perception of the female archetype which often falls victim to misinterpretation and fetishization at the pleasure of an underdeveloped narrative, their role and existence placed at the mercy of serving as a personified character arch for a male superior.
Reacting and responding to stereotypes based on a lengthy history of violence and ignorance, I intend to create an inspection of “idealistic femininity” both in media and how that can reflect and shape our daily life.
