Shreveport’s MLK neighborhood revitalized by residents, volunteers

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The City of Shreveport has been hosting Block by Block cleanups for neighborhoods with the most need. On July 26, they held a clean-up in the MLK neighborhood. A former resident who came back to help said, “People love the Cooper Road, probably no more than I do, but everybody loves being from here, but in order to take care of the place, we have to take care of it for our own self.”

Volunteers pick up trash and cut grass, but it’s not just about cleaning up; it’s also about listening to residents and seeing what they need in their community. City officials are on hand at these events to listen and hand out Block by Block surveys.
